This week the CCSD team enjoyed their visit to Auburn University on Wednesday for the AU College of Education (Fall) Teacher Recruitment Fair. We were able to meet several new teacher candidates and interviewed more than a dozen AU students that will be graduating mid year.

The National Fire Protection Association has announced this year's theme for Fire Prevention Week October 6-12: "Smoke alarms: Make them work for you! The goal of this year's campaign strives to educate everyone about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home.
CCSD High Schools will support our seniors with submitting applications to colleges nationwide as this is free college application week for Alabama. The CCSD is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. It is observed annually from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15th. The 30-day period was set by President Reagan in 1988 & enacted into law. Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor the cultures, histories and contributions of Hispanics & Latino Americans to America. Patriot Day set for Wed, Sept 11th. All students & staff are encouraged to wear their red, white & blue in memory of the lives lost in the Sept 11th attacks in 2001. Patriot Day is observed as a National Day of Remembrance in the USA. Help us honor the victims & heroes from 9/11.

What the law requires:
The LEA must (1) conduct with parents an annual evaluation of the content and effectiveness of the parent and family engagement policy in improving the academic quality of Title I schools, including identifying barriers to greater participation by parents in authorized activities; and (2) use the findings to design more effective strategies and revise the policy.
